you see, adelaide's one month birthday came (can we even call it that? a monthly birthday? i feel like i'm back in high school celebrating my eight week anniversary.) and i was unprepared. i had no MONTH ONE onesie to photograph her in. i had no giant stuffed animal to sit her next to. and i certainly don't have the photoshop skills to take care of these things electronically.
should i run to the store? cobble together something from my box of craft supplies? google a photoshop tutorial??
in the end i did none of these things. i probably took a nap instead. but! i also took this picture.

there's a glider, so we've got that. but her hands are covering half her face. and it was literally the only photo that came out in focus. oh and another thing? it was actually taken the day before her one month birthday (i seriously feel ridiculous calling it that). the horror! realizing this, i had plenty of time to run to the store, craft a onesie and go through a few photoshop tutorials.
except i didn't. i probably took another nap. and decided this was good enough.
i'll do better next month, adelaide.

sorry blogging is so sporadic! it's not because i'm omgsobusy but rather, i have nothing to blog about. i am a slave to a tiny, needy, loud (but SUPERCUTE) baby and that's just not that interesting. i'm over on twitter (@oliveourhouse) and instagram (you guessed it! oliveourhouse) much more often, oversharing photos of my baby. and sometimes my dog. but never my cat.

I was thinking about this the other day and the thought of this just makes me OMGTIRED. And the baby isn't even here yet. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI had to go through a ton of family photos recently (since they were in ALL the drawers were there's supposed to be baby clothes) and I was kind of sad thinking that our kids will grow up being a generation of iPhone photographed children. So I applaud you for taking the above picture with what I suspect is a real camera!
i know. i'm putting together a baby book and i'm like - what am i going to do? just put my iphone in here with all the photos on it? i'm really trying to take pictures with my real camera. (next step: print them!)
Deleteand this is why i love you, Erin. not in a creepy-stalker kind of way though (in case you were wondering). i've had family members and some blog readers ask me if i'm planning a "weekly series" of maternity photos sometime soon. Uh, no. And i doubt I'll be doing the monthly "birthday in a glider" set. But it does make me laugh. Did Young House Love start that trend with the photoshopped onesies?
ReplyDeletei would definitely take photos while pregnant though! i didn't want to do weekly updates but i'm so glad i did *something*. the few photographs i have of myself pregnant are already fun to look back on.
Deletemaybe? i did like YHL's fabric idea but who has time for that shit? professional bloggers i guess. ha.
tell me that "sweatfit" is truly a full on sweat-jumpsuit. where do I get one for me to wear?!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a two piece- pants and a shirt. But the back pants pocket has a little bunny on it! Pretty sweet. My sister picked it up from REI.
Deleteyou're right. this isn't a mommy blog! (i am cracking up that that is the tag on this post) its a fashion blog. I'm headed to REI to see if they have a pink sweatfit in a women's size small. :o)
Deleteomg a fashion blog. next up: outfit of the day! (OOTD)
DeleteEh, screw 'em. I think this picture is SUPER cute. I like that it's in her glider in her nursery. :)
ReplyDeleteFailed, shmailed. This a totally natural and beautiful picture of an irresistible little lady! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's an adorable picture of an adorable baby. And, the glider is sooooo comfortable; I want one. Seriously, I don't think you need the number 1 anyplace; a photo to show how much Adelaide changes from month to month is fun especially for us grandparents.
ReplyDeleteThe numbers on the onsies are photoshopped, that way you only have to update the onsie when she grows. But these photos are for you to look back at and enjoy so do whatever works for you!
ReplyDeleteErin, Relax!!! Just as long as you post a photo of your cutie now and then so we can see how she's growing, most of us will be more than happy. Just remember to take lots of photos for yourselves... babies grow so fast and in a few months time, you can look back and say "She was soooo small then!!!" ha ha!!!
